Place de la Republique was the site of recent protests. Something about the ability of businesses to let people go. For some reason, workers are not too keen on this. The police could still be seen amassed on one of the side streets, but, fortunately, all was quiet during my visit. The selfie stick wielding crowd was out in full force.
Most of the action I was able to find was centered around the skate boarders. I marveled at their ability to stay upright and wipe out so infrequently. They also gave me an opportunity to try to capture the motion that was practically perpetual.
Outside Place de la Republique, there was much that caught my attention including a profusion of stencil art that put a fresh splash of color on some stale old spaces.
The details went beyond the sheer gross physical aspects of the architecture of Paris. It was abundantly visible in the very doors themselves. I’m sure most of the knockers I saw were merely ornamental (I’m talking the ones hanging from doors), but it is nice to know that, should the power ever go out, you’ll still be able to let people know you’re there.
