The main highlight of the trip to Glendalough was the phallic-like projection that dominated the local countryside. It was a rather somber place with plenty of headstones and lots of moss, but with it came that sense of history that makes you wonder what things were really like when the place was a bustling center of learning (or at least scribing).
The drizzly weather created an appropriate ambiance for the place. It made taking photos a bit challenging, but one can't hold off on capturing the moment just because of a little moisture.
It wasn't all gloomy headstones. There was the verdant countryside that made for a very pastoral scene. I can see why the monks decided to set up shop there. Not a whole lot else to do except focus on the work at hand and go for contemplative walks around the lake.
