I was fortunate that my trip to Dresden had me flying into and out of Prague. After Five days in Germany, I hopped the train south and had a quick feasting on the city known for it's well preserved architectural gems. I won't get into the details of what allowed the city to be spared the ravages of the second WW, but the benefit of this was clearly evident.
An intense day of exploration required a good jolt to get things going and EMA espresso bar fit the bill. Bright and airy with a chill vibe. I would have liked to have camped out there to soak up more of the ambience and make some headway on my guide book, but a 3 hour walking tour awaited.
Not surprisingly, the John Lennon Pub was just across the street from the John Lennon Wall. I'm not sure which one came first, but I found the wall to be the more engaging of the two and it was definitely worth taking the time to ponder the messages on display.
It was not included in our walking tour, but the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace was highly recommended by our guide. A hidden gem he called it. I was not impressed by the first few rooms, but after ascending a few flights, we were rewarded by some of the splendor that must have inspired Mozart and Casanova to make frequent visits there. Or perhaps the more compelling attraction were the ladies that they would meet there during the numerous dances that the palace hosted.
For much of Prague, you are never very far away from the Vltava river. As a result, bridges are pretty prominent, as is outdoor art, which ranges from cheeky to ecclesiastical.
