It was nice to get away for a few days just for a change of scenery and get out of the rut of always seeming to be at work. Since I am working from home now, I was in dire need of a change. Fortunately, I was invited to spend a few days in a place that was made famous for its agressive avian wildlife. At least that's the way they were portrayed in the film The Birds. I found them to be quite friendly and was only concerned about the usual airborne assault of the excretory variety.
It was hard to get away from the blooming flowers, which I didn't mind. They seemed to be everywhere you turned, so it's no surprise they feature prominently here.
How could one go near wine country without having a taste or two? Certainly not I. Russian River was only a short drive away so a day trip to hit some wineries was in order. Korbel for some bubbly and MacRostie for the standard variety fit the bill. Visits were made a bit more challenging in light of the Covid precautions, but a little calling ahead for a reservation and some luck made it happen.
Bodega Bay is called that for a reason and there were quite a few places to take it all in.
It was fortunate that I was able to get some summertime exposure before the forest fires erupted just a bit north because it meant lots of rays and relatively clean air.
Most people are content with just lounging on the beach. Others need some sort of project to keep them satisfied. Well there were a lot of evidence of do it yourselfers on display. I'm referring to the many drift wood structures that were liberally scattered along the length of the beach. Some much more impressive than others. I don't think they would give you much shelter from a downpour (rare as they are), but pretty good shade could be had.
