I had meant to publish this at the end of August 2018, but for some reason, it stayed in draft state and didn't get posted. Better late than never. Enjoy ;-)
One of the must stops (or so I was told) of Helsinki is the Temppeliaukio Church aka Rock Church. Not because of the music, but because it was built into rock.
We were fortunate enough to catch some Street art at Helsinki Art Museum. They brought the street inside for us, presenting a nice history of the form in general before focusing on the Helsinki scene.
The Finns like their saunas and I was looking forward to getting in some steam action while in the capital. The first attempt was disappointing because they were all booked up by the time we arrived. It was not so bad because it gave us a chance to enjoy the fantastic view from the expansive deck of one of the city's most popular saunas, Loyly and to hang out with locals and fellow travelers.
Lots of round edges, curvy balconies and welcoming portals.
The train station was quite distinctive. It gave one the impression that you were about to enter something monumental. There interior did not quite live up to expectations, but it was a still a pretty neat jumping off point. For us it carried us to the airport, which was just the place of the start of another Scandinavian adventure.
